Welcome To St. Johannes Church.
St Johannes Lutheran Church is a member of the North-Eastern Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Africa (NELCSA), previously known as The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (N-T) (ELCSA-NT), within the Central Circuit. We are based in Kelvin, North of Johannesburg and our services are in English with a touch of our other local African languages in hymns and songs.
Pastor Jack Magoro
Rev. Jack Mokone Magoro has served as Pastor of St. Johannes Lutheran Church since 2017. Born on 25 November 1985 and raised in Skilpadfontein (Marapyane), he was educated at Sibis Primary School, Dikotelo, and Khamane. He studied theology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and also holds a Master of Arts in African Studies.
Before his current ministry, Rev. Magoro served at Lefika Parish in Botswana (2013–2015) and Shayandima Parish in Venda (2015–2017). His passion lies in uniting people and growing congregations spiritually, while ensuring that the church remains present in both the joys and challenges of community life. He is particularly committed to strengthening the church’s voice in addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Rev. Magoro is married to Reneilwe Jennifer Magoro, and they are blessed with four children. In his free time, he enjoys soccer and reading.
